Conditional fee agreement

conditional fee agreement: commonly known as a ‘no win no fee’ agreement, or a “CFA”; in litigation and dispute resolution, a written contract between a litigation solicitor and his client under which the client will only be responsible for some or all of the solicitor’s fees upon certain conditions being met, usually being that their claim is “successful”. The conditional fee agreement will define “success” and should set out how much the solicitor’s fee will be upon “success”, and what the fee will be (if any) where there is no “success”.
