Confidential information

confidential information: commercially sensitive information that has the necessary quality of confidence, or has been imparted in circumstances giving rise to duties of confidentiality. Confidential information can include client databases and software codes or trade secrets such as product designs and recipes. The unauthorised disclosure of confidential information by a person who receives it under an obligation of confidentiality, such as under a non-disclosure agreement, could lead to a claim for breach of confidence or breach of contract.
