Equitable remedy

equitable remedy: a court remedy available in civil disputes that is discretionary in nature, awarded pursuant to a court’s equitable jurisdiction (as opposed to a court’s common law jurisdiction); equitable remedies are less rigid than those at common law, and enable a court to do what is fair between the parties, normally where monetary damages would be an inadequate remedy; examples of equitable remedies include specific performance, an account of profits and an injunction.
